Every year, we rely on the money raised by our amazing volunteers organising bake sales, quizzes and concerts. With so many of these events cancelled, this month, we need volunteers to run virtual fundraising events to support our virtual social clubs.
As lockdown continues, it’s amazing to see the inventive ways that people are finding to connect and keep one another entertained online - from virtual comedy clubs, to weekly Zoom pub quizzes.
But many older neighbours have few online connections and need help getting online. That’s why North London Cares is supporting older neighbours to set up Zoom, including Anna (68) – who was our first older neighbour to be set up!
Once online, older and younger neighbours have been sharing time, laughter and conversation at our virtual Social Clubs, from our Seated Yoga to our biggest virtual pub club ever- with 32 older and younger neighbours attending!
We need your support to continue this work – which is why we’re asking you to “socialise for social clubs.”
We have created simple guides on running a virtual pub quiz, Stars In Their Eyes night and Desert Island Discs night to raise money for North London Cares.
You could raise £150 through 30 people joining your Stars In Their Eyes night and donating £5 each. Or why not make your pub quiz weekly and raise £250 in a month?
If you have any questions, email Imogen, who will be happy to support you.
Get your Kirsty Young on, channel your inner Matthew Kelly and help us to keep older neighbours connected at this isolating time.
