For local businesses

Many local firms contribute to their community through North London Cares, bringing their expertise, employees and space to bear for the benefit of their older neighbours.

North London has experienced rapid gentrification in the past five years. Sometimes this trend, which is beyond all of our individual control, has meant that people who have been at the very heart of the community for decades have lost touch with their neighbourhood, or felt left behind.

Visits to businesses within Camden and Islington helps all our neighbours – long-standing and those still laying down roots – to understand the world beyond their doors. Below are just a few ways businesses have already made a difference to their community.

If you are a business within the borough and would like to welcome your neighbours through North London Cares, please contact Laura on [email protected].

Vietnam Deli Carrots & Daikon visited our Kentish Town club and over the course of an afternoon, showed them how to make several Vietnamese classics. Their summer rolls recipe was particularly popular among our older neighbours!

North London Cares has worked closely with Arsenal in the Community on various projects, including The Harvist Estate Jubilee Street Party, Film Nights and the National Citizenship Service. They also welcome our older neighbours to screenings of cup matches and for tours of the stadium.

Ladies & Gentlemen

Ladies and Gentlemen opened it's doors to our older neighbours and taught them a thing or two about how to make a mean cocktail. Once a disused underground Victorian lavatory, the space is now a full-functioning cocktail bar. Our neighbours had a taste of their top sellers and even to got to shake a cocktail themselves!

Adrenalin Hub

Adrenaline Hub kindly donated a skateboarding lesson to our Summer Pub Quiz raffle. Adrenalin Hub inspires people to try new and exciting things and also provides unique gifts for loved ones, such as bungee jumping, rock climbing, kitesurfing and much more. Through their donation, they have helped North London Cares raise vital funds to bring more older and younger neighbours together to share time, laughter and human companionship across Camden and Islington.
