As we move into the autumn and finalise North London Cares' programme for the period leading up to Christmas (yep, we said it), we thought it would be nice to take a look back on the work we've been doing during a memorable summer in London Town.

In addition to the work our volunteers have done to help save an older neighbour £100 on phone bills; to clear a massively unruly garden; to support a trip for care home residents to see members of the London Symphony Orchestra; to dance with older people at the Emirates and play games at a local day centre; to host a hugely successful street party on a Holloway estate; and to knock on 1,000 doors to make sure people can stay cool in hot weather -- we've also built a really exciting programme of social events, anchored to our popular Film Nights in Camden and Islington.

In fact, this summer you, the volunteers, have hosted 28 of those film clubs, attracting up to 50 older people in Camden and Islington every week to share tea, sandwiches, cake and a movie and a natter with their neighbours. In doing so, 100 of you have added nearly 500 volunteering hours to our community, and created thouands of new interactions that add real value to our neighbourhood.

To say thank you, we've put together this little video, put to the great music of one of those volunteers. For those who have participated so far, we hope it reminds you of the exciting project we're building together. And for those who haven't, we hope it will inspire you to sign up to get involved.

Stay posted here in the coming days for details on the volunteering opportunities we have coming up during the coming months -- and thank you.
