When neighbours of Camden and Islington visited the Sky Garden on Fenchurch street it was a delight to witness the pride they had for their city. Older neighbours were keen to share, and point out to their younger friends, streets they had worked on, buildings they knew and places they liked, and visa versa.
Additionally, by being high up in the air and looking down on London it gave a bit of perspective on what we are all united by – our home city. It showed us our neighbourliness.
Even though the city may look slightly different now, with a new skyline, it was still the London the neighbours knew and adored. As Kathryn said:
“Being up here, you can see why we say it’s the best city in the world. And you can understand why all these new people from all over the world want to live here with us”.
