Throughout 2016, it’s been inspiring to see so many wonderful North London Cares fundraisers walking, running, climbing over obstacles and even eating mealworms to help connect their older neighbours. All our challengers have really gone, literally, that extra mile, helping to address the isolation on their doorsteps.
And the handwritten notes from our neighbours on the North London Cares challenge banner really highlight how much our challenge fundraisers' hard work is appreciated. As Maggie said, “Keep going ‘til the end of the road!" Our challengers have certainly lived up to that message and did them proud in 2016.
One of the most special moments this year was when one of our challengers, Chiara, went above and beyond to raise as much money as possible for North London Cares. She not only carried out a ridiculous 30km obstacle course wearing an oxygen reducing gas mask but also set up a Facebook page so friends and family could see how much training she was doing, cooked lunch for all her work colleagues, then directly Whatsapp'd all her friends to ask them to donate, telling them how much North London Cares meant to her.
Chiara's target was £300 but in total she raised an amazing £693.50. Go Chiara!
