Another magical moment in 2016 has been supporting good friendships to grow and thrive through our Love Your Neighbour programme. Take, for instance, Sophie and Piera.
Sophie and Piera have been meeting up for two years now, and have become firm friends. While they have over sixty years separating them in age, the strength of their friendship is timeless, reminding us of the value of relationships across social and generational lines.
Piera lives with her husband, but can still feel disconnected from the world around her. So she loves her regular visits from Sophie, who just spends time, who's interested in having a proper conversation, and who loves the stories Piera shares.
Piera and Sophie talk about everything from their families and what's been going on in their lives, to history and the books which they lend each other. Both really enjoy each other’s company, and how much they have gained from being introduced to one another.
For Piera, it's so valuable to feel connected to modern-day London through Sophie; for Sophie it's really special to hear Piera’s stories of London past.
In 2017, you too can share stories and feel more connected in our whirlwind capital city, by being part of our Love Your Neighbour programme.
