If you've been to a North London Cares social club recently, or if you've been following from afar on social media, you may well have met a Michael. Michael from Kilburn has been learning how to make puppets with Little Angel Theatre and movie-loving Michael of Archway has been enjoying films aplenty. They're everywhere, these Michael's. Well, there's another – Michael from Primrose Hill. Or as he'd prefer to be known 'Mick The Punk'!
Recently, Mick was amongst neighbours enjoying a music performance by Laura Bow. She was getting through some classics and launched into another - 'Cheek To Cheek' by Fred Astaire - which has the famous opening line "Heaven, I'm in heaven...", Michael turned to younger neighbour Rebecca laughing and said…"Not yet Laura! Not just yet!" - those near him in the back row overheard and along with Rebecca started laughing too! He looked a bit shocked by their reaction at first before the biggest, biggest grin took over his face. Everyone laughed once more, Mick included.
Mick and Rebecca might have a lot in common, they might not - that remains to be seen. However, the thing they shared first is a laugh and a sense of humour. And what a good thing that is to build on! It's fantastic that Mick came along that night. He not only enjoyed some entertainment alongside neighbours but also made an impact on them too.
Interactions like these are so meaningful and go much further than we think . Mick and Rebecca are proof that a little laughter goes a long way.
