This week, one of our regulars became a TV superstar -- and an internet sensation! -- when she appeared on the BBC's One Show to talk about North London Cares' Film Nights.
Lil was invited onto the show with presenters Alex and Matt, plus legendary British film writer and director Richard Curtis, to talk about the clubs she's attended virtually every week for nearly a year now (which are partly funded by Curtis' brainchild Comic Relief - thanks!).
No one who knows Lil, including many of the younger volunteers who've hung out with her and the rest of the gang, would've been surprised that she totally stole the show: she's quite a character.
But still, few of us expected that ther honesty would have the whole studio and much of the country (we checked on Twitter!) guffawing with laughter.
For Lil, Tuesday was a really "happy, exciting" evening out, a proper adventure. She was chauffeur driven to and from BBC TV Centre, pampered by the make-up girls, and given a voice.
For us, it was also a lovely reflection of the North London Cares vision -- writ large. We want to provide opportunities and connection for people who don't normally have them, and we want to introduce people who might not normally interact to one another -- to challenge, to share, and to inspire.
