Carmen has been coming to our clubs with her carer for a while and says it is helping with her recovery from her stroke.
Carmen was born in northwest Spain, an area that is full of culture and great food. In her twenties, she came to England and got a job in nursing and then with BP. Since retiring, she has enjoyed going to keep fit classes, social clubs, and playing short mat bowls.
She loves gardening, sewing, knitting, and crochet, but her rheumatism has sadly put pay to that. She is also recovering from a stroke. However, she has found new interests through coming to our cubs, including word search and working with clay. Carmen comes to many of our clubs, recently enjoying practicing her Flamenco.
In May she came along to our social club run by Pott'd People at the Goodinge Community Centre. The plan was to follow a template to make a trinket pot. However, Carmen decided to make an 'estropajos': this is a special pot to keep by your kitchen sink for scourers and wash cloths.
At Hilldrop Wellbeing Fair in July she made a special sign for North London Cares.
Thank you Carmen!
