Cocktail O'Clock!

Older and younger neighbours were entertained by their new friends from the UCL Women's football team last week. In the impressive surrounds of the WeWork space in Camden, the gang were treated to an entertaining evening of mouth-watering cocktails and great conversation. The hosts for the evening took the neighbours through the process of making four delicious drinks, allowing them to test their creativity as well as sample the end products!

Kathy, a regular at North London Cares' events, was impressed by both the plush surroundings of the venue and the hosts of the evening. "What a lovely place to come! The students have made us all feel so welcome and the drinks have just kept coming! I've had a bit of a stressful time lately and this has really made my day to be able to relax and have a good laugh with such lovely people."

Devika had a great time sharing a laugh with Caroline and Maria and refining her mojito making skills. "This was such fun and the conversation was very stimulating. People can become awkward around older people, feeling like they cant share their opinions with us. The students were great and had a lot of interesting things to say, I didn't want the night to end!"

With over 70 percent of North London Cares' older neighbours living alone and many of our younger neighbours sharing that they rarely see housemates due to hectic schedules, the cocktail evening was an opportunity to relax and spend a couple of hours in great company whilst enjoying some delicious food and drink. 

The UCL Medics who organised the night were thrilled with how well it went. Entertainments Officer, Annie, admitted  "We were all a little bit nervous at the start but the neighbours were so much fun and the time flew by. It was an amazing experience. We've been looking to do something together as a team that helped our community in some way and are so happy that we found North London Cares."

As the neighbours began to depart they were excitedly making plans for their own cocktail evenings clutching instruction booklets made for them by their new friends. No need for the party to finish just yet!
