Over the past week our volunteers and older neighbours have been getting creative with food and have made some beautiful Easter eggs and colourful tasty pizzas.
On Friday we were at the Peel Centre in King’s Cross where our volunteers and older neighbours made their own Easter eggs using melted chocolate and moulds and decorated them beautifully. Take a look at some of the beautiful finished products:
And resourceful Mylan helped Eileen to turn her egg in to an igloo after Sarah cracked the egg when taking it out of its mould:
On Saturday we hosted our monthly cooking and activity session at the Abbey Community Centre in Kilburn and our volunteers and older neighbours prepared an Italian feast for their hungry guests.
Volunteer Fiona was back for another cooking demonstration and this time she taught her older neighbours how to make an Italian tricolore salad. Here she is with Kevin chopping up all of the ingredients:
And this is the colourful final result:
Sarah then demonstrated how to make a Margherita Pizza, from making the dough, to rolling it, to adding the topping.
Everyone then got creative with their toppings and we had everything from spinach, to roasted peppers to eggs on top:
At our creative cooking sessions, volunteers and older neighbours are able to share their skills, learn new ones, and share a meal with their new friends. Why not join them next time?
