Every month a top team of clue crackers team up at the North London Cares crossword club. Working together to finish a puzzle has started some great new friendships and also seen people build a lot of confidence in their abilities whilst having a giggle. The group start off working together to finish a crossword and then split off into smaller groups. From then on it's a friendly race against the clock to see who ends up the champ!

Younger neighbour Sarah has been attending Social clubs for the last five years and joins the crossword club every month as well as face to face activities.

"I came late to the crossword club because I thought it might be full of people who know much bigger words than I do! However after my first one I came away feeling like I'd had a laugh with my neighbours and also like I'd contributed to our group puzzle. I got to know Janet better too and now often see her at face to face clubs, she's a great person to have on your team!"

Rebecca started attending events at the end of last year and is now a regular at the crossword club. She said

"It's been a fab opportunity to spend an hour doing something different and fun with new people, you can't help but have a laugh doing it. It's REALLY satisfying when you workout a really tricky word together as a team"

Janet has been a big fan of the club from it's inception and has won a lot of fans over the last few months for her contributions to tough puzzles.

"I enjoy everything about it. I love quizzes and crosswords anyway so it's really nice to share that with others and meet new friends along the way. I know this club started because of the pandemic but I hope it continues forever, it's so enjoyable."
