Fancy a challenge? Well, we are happy to oblige!

Please note: this post is 97 months old and The Cares Family is no longer operational. This post is shared for information only

In 2015, 40 volunteers took on the Thames Path Challenge. In 2016, we made it to Cambridge. And in 2017 we’ll be marching an epic 50km or 100km from London to Brighton

The walk will take us across the paths and trails of the North and South Downs, before heading along the coast to the glorious finish line! Whilst it will most certainly be a challenge, it promises to be a really picturesque walk taking in the Kentish and Sussex countryside.

Our walks are the highlight of our challenge calendar. Anyone who has participated in the past will attest to the fact that they are tough, but the camaraderie, pride and elation at the finish line are well worth it – so much so that several team members from last year have already decided to take up the challenge again!

Still interested? The date to put in your diary is Saturday 27th May - and 28th May for those challengers taking on the big 100k.

You can sign up here. When signing up you'll need to join an existing team. The details are:

  • Team Leader: Emily Clarke
  • Team Name: North London Cares
  • Route: Walker: 50km / 100km continuous
  • Start Time: 7:00am – 8:00am
  • Full Challenge  – 100km: £70 Registration Fee / £395 Minimum Sponsorship Target
  • Half Challenge - 50km: £50 Registration Fee / £275 Minimum Sponsorship Target
  • For the January offer: 1st person signs up using the above form, and provides details of the 2nd person who will 'join them'. The 2nd person then completes the form, referencing the 1st person. Both are then eligible for the discount.

The start line is Richmond, West London finishing at Turners Hill for those taking on the 50km, or Brighton Racecourse for those taking on the impressive 100km.

From March leading up to the day, we will carry out training walks throughout London to get you fighting fit for the big day. They’ll all end in the pub for a well earned meal, and are a great way to meet fellow challengers.

And, most importantly, by keeping on going ‘till the end of the road as Maggie says, you’ll be tackling isolation on your doorstep, by helping to bring joy, laughter and companionship to your neighbours across Camden and Islington!

So get your boots on, buy those compeed blister plasters (if you don’t know what they are, you soon will), and get walking for North London Cares!
