The fun-packed weekend we have just had is what North London Cares is all about, with not one but two brilliant events on Saturday! First we were treated to a delicious Indian vegetable feast cooked by the resident of Kilburn at the Abbey Community Centre, followed by a quiz. We then took part in Islington Giving's Give Local event at Lift in Islington.
Around 40 local residents came together in Kilburn on Saturday to learn how to make authentic Indian food including lentil dahl soup, mixed vegetable curry and a semolina dessert before sitting down to enjoy the feast together. People of all ages then joined in with our quiz on a diverse range of topics including art, geography and the week's news.
We then took part in the Give Local event at Lift in Islington as part of Islington Giving Week. The event showcased the broad range of volunteering opportunities available in Islington and included activities and entertainment including a treasure hunt, postcard making and spoken word presentations.
North London Cares shared a slot with the Saturday Night Project in which our brilliant volunteers Emily and Eibhlish led a drama workshop and took part in a dance class. You can see a video of the event here:
A massive thanks to Emily and Eibhlish for putting on such a fun workhop and to Islington Giving for making the event such a massive success!
