This Saturday, 6 fantastic North London Cares volunteers gave up 3 hours each to help tame what must've been one of Islington's most unruly gardens!
We first came into contact with Tabita and her aunt's patch through our friends over at Good Gym, who had already taken two groups of volunteers to chop down the overgrowth and make a brilliant start on creating a brand new space for Tabita and her aunt to enjoy.
So this weekend, our volunteers, armed with forks, spades, rakes, shears and gloves, got to work on pulling out the thousands of deep-rooted weeds that would finally clear the garden and make it ready for grass, flowers and maybe even some vegatables.
Maria, Ben, Sally, Holly, Jess and Arthiga did a fantastic job -- and by the time they left the garden was 80% clear of weeds.
Another session in a few weeks time, and we hope Tabita and her aunt's garden will be ready to plant! Sign up to join us then, or with any other activities to support our older neighbours.
