Happy birthday, Pat - North London Cares

For a few months, North London Cares volunteers have been keeping an eye out for our elderly neighbour Pat -- escorting her to the shops to get groceries, taking her flowers after an eye operation, accompanying her for some cake at the local cafe, and generally making sure she's OK.

One volunteer especially, Lauren, has been amazing: Lauren and Pat have kept each other company a few times over the summer, in person and on the phone.

So when Lauren learned that Pat had a big day -- a 90th birthday -- on the horizon, she was keen to spend a little time making sure it was one Pat would remember. Along with Jen, NLC's network coordinator, Lauren escorted Pat in her wheelchair to a local restaurant on Saturday so they could share a special birthday meal and cake.
