On Saturday 12th September, you could be part of an exciting event with North London Cares. Alexandra - one of our amazing Organisers - explains more.
I’m an Organiser for North London Cares. I hold a monthly book club in Swiss Cottage for the local community. I see first-hand how much hard work goes into supporting our older neighbours in Camden and Islington.
The social clubs, Love Your Neighbour project and seasonal campaigns do much to combat loneliness and help to make our communities feel valued and visible - but they can’t be done for free.
When Emily first floated the idea of fundraising for North London Cares by registering for the Thames Path Challenge, I was both intrigued and terrified. 50km isn’t just a walk in the park, and the event will be a real physical challenge.
But once I heard those 50km are along some of the most scenic parts of the Thames - including Runnymede, in this the Magna Carta 800th anniversary year - the prospect seemed much more appealing.
Most of all, the Thames Path Challenge will do a great job at raising funds for - and awareness of - North London Cares. By supporting North London Cares in this way you will be extending the community of people benefitting from the charity’s support, and increasing the impact of the team’s hard work.
So why not sign up, take on the challenge, and join me to help to make a difference?
Hope to see you there!
Alex
