Lots done, lots still to do…

Wednesday 15th February 2012

We need extra volunteers to help us deliver 3,600 leaflets in February—and to support our neighbours through the bitterly cold weather.

Over the past 10 days, North London Cares volunteers have been out in Islington knocking on doors -- raising awareness of the different services on offer to our elderly neighbours during the cold snap.

We've knocked on over 1,200 doors so far and spoken to hundreds of people -- people like the Peronis, three siblings in their seventies who all live together in Highbury and support one another on a day-to-day basis.

The Peronis, like so many others, were chuffed to see that their younger neighbours were taking the time out, offering just that little extra support during these bitterly cold days.

And, while supporting our neighbours, North London Cares volunteers have also had a great time. Oli told us it was brilliant to get out and support people who need help, to learn about the community and to meet new friends in the process.

But, although we're making great progress towards our target of 3,600 doors knocked during the final days of winter, we've still got a long way to go.

In fact, we've just taken delivery of another 2,500 leaflets -- and we really need your support, and your time, to get them out to people in the next two weeks.

Please watch Oli talking about his experience speaking to his elderly neighbours during the cold snap, and sign up today to join us over the next two weekends.
