London is a diverse city rich in culture, with countless museums, galleries, music venues and eateries on our doorstep. We want to make sure that older people who live here get the same benefit from all of the wonderful things our city has to offer, and we have some very exciting trips lined up in the next few weeks.
This week our older men's cooking group will be on tour to get some tips from chef Philip Dundas at PipsDish, a family kitchen-style restaurant where Philip prepares home-cooked food for around ten people. We are delighted that Philip has offered to cook a meal for our older men's cooking group and expect them to be taking lots of new ideas away with them!
On Wednesday we'll be returning to Dalston Rio for another great film; this time it's Philomena starring Judi Dench and Steve Coogan, hotly tipped for an Oscar next month. These cinema trips are always a great opportunity for volunteers and older people to get together and have a chat over their shared love of film - just like Jess and Harry here.
And we're looking forward to another stunning performance at LSO St Luke's where our volunteers and older neighbours have been treated to a diverse range of performances in the past including string quartets and piano recitals.
We want to continue to ensure that our older neighbours have as much access as possible to the wonderful experiences available to them. Why not join them one day? Sign up, or email [email protected] if you have a suggestion about your favourite London experience you'd like to share with your older neighbours.
