What was the first North London Cares event that you attended?

The first club I attended was the Marchmont Film Club - its such a lovely idea, we all get together on the last Monday of the month, have a cup of tea and a chat and then watch a film. It was so lovely to get to know people who had lived around Camden all there lives and hear some really fascinating stories, plus the films are always really interesting!

What has been your favourite experience with North London Cares so far?

My most fun experience was the New Orleans Jazz club one Saturday, all the neighbours had so much fun! A few neighbours got up and played songs and sang, which was great, and at one point everyone was on their feet dancing together on a Saturday afternoon - it really proves the power of the community and the joy that can be shared! I think everyone enjoyed a rum punch too!

What advice would you give to a neighbour coming to a club for the first time?

My advice would be there is no pressure at all - you can do as much or as little as you like, you can be involved as much or as little as you like, its the most safe, welcoming, inclusive environment and whoever you are you will be welcomed with open arms by everyone!

Where do you go in Camden or Islington to be happy?

I love North London so much and can often be found, walking on Hampstead heath, swimming at the council run outdoor pool on Tottenham court road, doing yoga at Triyoga in Camden and eating or enjoying a pint in some of the best pubs London has to offer on my doorstep! And of course volunteering across Camden for NLC!
