Musical differences? Social similarities!

Please note: this post is 94 months old and The Cares Family is no longer operational. This post is shared for information only

There's a new choir in town, and they're called Camden SINGS! And who doesn't like a good sing-song? North London neighbours certainly love their music and have been enjoying comparing notes (and chords!) in the last few weeks.

With a couple of rehearsals under their belt, Frank, Leida and friends in and around Queen's Crescent are sounding great already, having knocked out some classics that span the decades - including a belter from East 17. Yes we know the choir's in NW5 but this one's too good not to have a go at. Look out for more from the gang as they perfect their harmonies over the coming months.

We've also been entertained by some very inspiring young Londoners, one of whom is Benji Tranter who's got bags of talent. He came along to a social club last year after hearing all about North London Cares from a mate of his. Terry, Clare and friends over in Primrose Hill were the first to hear his songs and ask him a few questions of their own;

"How do you set about writing your lyrics? And who are your influences?" - inspiration can come from anywhere. And it turns out Joni Mitchell is still very, very popular!

Benji Talking

Benji recently shared a performance with neighbours young and old in Kentish Town too. Ken was over the moon to meet and make a new pal, saying "He's brilliant and so witty - mind you, you'd have to have a sense of humour to support QPR for that long!".

Here's to music and it bringing people together. Whether you're a seasoned performer or a burgeoning choir member - London...make a joyful noise!
