Find out the latest volunteer opportunities North London Cares has in your neighbourhood.
There are lots of community projects on their way to a neighbourhood near you with North London Cares, including… wait for it… a few Jubilee/Olympic themed activities. Keep your eyes peeled!
In the meantime, here’s what we have going on in the next couple of weeks:
The Big Chill -- after three months of door-knocking through wind, rain, snow and the occasional bit of sunshine, we are on track to knock our 4,000th door this Saturday afternoon. Let us know if you would like to join us for the final session, and for a bit of celebratory pub action afterwards!
Film Club -- on Wednesday 4th April North London Cares is hosting its first inter-generational film club. We will be screening The King’s Speech at Holloway Resource Centre at 6.30pm for some of our isolated elderly neighbours that we have encountered in the last few weeks of door-knocking. If you are free, come and join us for the film, tea and biscuits, and the opportunity to be entertained by stories of what it really was like ‘way back when’.
Saturday Social -- a local Islington community centre is looking for volunteers to help them open their doors on Saturday mornings to their vulnerable and elderly neighbours. Currently they just don’t have the manpower to do it. If anyone is interested in sparing a couple of hours to help us make this possible, get in touch.
T Chances -- this performing arts venue in Tottenham puts on poetry sessions and performances for its vulnerable neighbours. To continue to provide this valuable service, they are looking for volunteers to help with administration, organisation and practical help around the venue (such as cleaning, carpentry and plumbing).
