The new year is a great time to make a change to your lifestyle – maybe you've gone vegan or taken to the treadmill, but what's better for your heart and soul than a new friend.
You may be surprised that some older neighbours live right around the corner from where lots of younger neighbours work everyday. Take Maria for example. Maria has lived near City Road for 47 years. We introduced her to Sophie a few weeks ago, who walks to and from work everyday and goes straight past her flat. She’s now popping in each week on her way home so they can have a cup of tea and share their highlights from the week.
Daisy works in Clerkenwell, a short stroll from Piera’s flat near Old Street. Piera’s the perennial host, keen to share her cooking with every visitor. Both are looking forward to getting to know one another while dining on some homemade, hearty Italian food. Molto bene!
But there are many more older neighbours we’re looking to introduce to their younger neighbours. There’s Keturah in Archway, who moved to London from Jamaica over 50 years ago; or Patrick in Camden Town, who’s flat is adorned with shelves of comic books.
So if you fancy a different type of commute and want to meet more neighbours near where you work, then get involved.
