North London Stories Volume 4: People and their places

Please note: this post is 102 months old and The Cares Family is no longer operational. This post is shared for information only

Last month you heard from the now firm friends Lil and Tony as they described their school days. So much in common but plenty of differences too, what with Lil being from Islington and Tony from Northern Ireland. Their stories are well worth listening to if you've not had a chance!

In this edition of North London Stories it's the turn of Peter, Fran and Rebecca – all of whom have made (and are still making!) great memories in Camden. That's what the social club at Castlehaven was all about this time; sharing tales of favourite places across our communities. For Rebecca an after-school trip to Inverness Street came to mind. Peter and Fran shared a love of a special Camden Town pub and a famous feline who lives there.

We also hear from the brilliant Maureen who dances her way from Hackney to Kentish Town ("They know to play something fast so I'll come back!") as well as music-lovers Doris, Kim and Alex who it turns out not only share a love of football but a postcode too!

Cries of “ARSENAL, ARSENAL…” from Doris as she drowns out Alex, a fellow N5-er but a Manchester United fan, as she remembers the Gunners lifting the FA Cup! All good fun.

With so much going on in our brilliant capital it can be hard to find time to reflect. Well, now's your chance. Sit down with us, put the kettle on and enjoy a journey through the streets of north London...
