Another month, another set of North London Stories! And this time you get to spend a little extra time with the gang, as the podcast is a little longer than normal. No surprise really – who doesn't love a holiday?
This is the second podcast in a two-parter. In the first part, we heard of Michael's tales of fish, chips and illuminations in Blackpool, and of Ethel's love for the donkeys in Southend-on-Sea.
In this episode, our sixth pod in the North London Stories series, you'll hear from no fewer than nine of your north London neighbours who came together at Castlehaven Community Association this summer to share not only a cuppa but time, friendship and lots of laughter as they recounted memories of trips gone by:
"Ha! Wicked! I'm getting excited again just remembering it! Do you know, it's brought back a lot of memories..."
Sonia, who you've heard from before, couldn't contain her joy as she recalled the fair in Margate (and the Helter Skelter in particular!).
"When you went into the restaurants...the FOOD! I didn't know what to have first. There was plates of this, plates of that. I was several hours in there!"
Any guesses where Margaret travelled to last year? You got it – New York, New York in the good ol' US of A. We were all entertained by this seasoned traveller, and her tales of adventure.
Along with the younger and older neighbours, we love making these podcasts. They express perfectly why we do what we do: bring people together, to share tales of people and places that matter to them, and to combat London's occasional sense of anonymity as they do so.
Why not come and join the fun next time? Frances, Kei, Andrew, Emma, Ray, Neil and Lil can't wait to meet you. Oh, and happy holidays!
