Our July Champions

July was a month full of quizzing, clothes and treasure hunting across north London!

On Tuesday 4th July, our North London Cares’ family got together for our summer pub Quiz.  Teams of five got competitive to answer questions about north London, the famous celebrities that live here, and older neighbour Tony’s school days in Ireland.

We also had prizes galore in our raffle, including a Skateboarding Lesson donated by Adrenalin Hub and Afternoon Tea Tour donated by B-Bakery.

In total we raised an amazing £711 to help fund friendships across our community.  Thank you to everyone who attended, donated a raffle prize and made the night so special.

Later that week, we held our second  Cares’ Clothes Swap, with our sister charity South London Cares. People swapped and shopped, with some fabulous items up for grabs, including a beautiful Ted Baker dress and a Barbour jacket. We raised an awesome £212 for our communities  north and south of the river.  Thank you swappers - you rock!

On Sunday 30th July, we held our North London Cares’ Treasure Hunt and Big Camden Celebration, supported by the Big Lottery. Younger neighbours orienteered around Camden uncovering  their older neighbours’ memories and stories, from Irene’s dancing days to Peter reminiscing about rabbit stew.

Fun was had by all, as teams got competitive to carry out challenge tasks based on their neighbour’s memories.

Team ‘North London Cares Bears’ were victorious, winning against team ‘Camden Crawlers’ by a mere seven  points. Thank you to the neighbour’s who shared  their memories and our wonderful participants. You’re all champions!
