We know that local businesses have a lot to offer -- and a lot to gain -- from giving time to the community...
That's why yesterday, North London Cares took a group of volunteers from Hilton Hotels Islington to spend time with their older neighbours on a specially designed volunteering day in the borough.
Lina, Malin, Vincent, Glenn and Yasser spoke to lots of older people at the Age UK Winter Warmth day near Caledonian Road and then, after lunch, headed to the Lennox House Care Home in Finsbury Park to have a natter with some of the lovely residents there.
And of course, as front-of-house staff from the Upper Street hotel, they were all brilliant company.
North London Cares' volunteering is all about the power of human interaction. We hope these little chats will have made a big difference to both our older neighbours and the enthusiastic volunteers -- bringing both parties closer to the community and inspiring the Hilton employees to get involved again in the future.
Today, we've got the second run of our sessions with another Hilton gang -- this time a trip to see members of the London Symphony Orchestra at St Luke's Church Old Street!
Stay posted for pictures of our exciting day ahead and check out the fun we had yesterday...
