From cooking to crochet, our latest initiative, Saturday Socials, has proved a popular choice for those looking to revive their weekends.

Thanks to support from Islington Giving and with partners All Change, Cubitt and Arsenal in the Community, each week we’re hosting a different free activity in a bid to get Islington socialising and trying new pursuits, on a day when many of the fantastic local community centres are otherwise closed.

So far…

We’ve watched an oscar-winning film.

We’ve picked our favourite Arsenal squad..

We’ve crowned Islington’s over 55’s Ping Pong Champion..

And our NLC volunteers learnt to knit (Knattering was already our forte!)

The weekend can prove a lonely time for many of our older neighbours, so events such as these really can prove a lifeline and it seems our volunteers are gaining just as much!
