On Sunday, our volunteers and older neighbours came together to enjoy sunshine, singing and story-sharing at our summer shindig at The Grafton.
The likes of Chloe, Mike and Maisie settled down to a wonderful afternoon of live, acoustic music, being sure to share their own musical memories in between performances.
First up was the country sounds of Simon Stanley Ward, who entertained us with songs about feeling sorry for himself, and a fly falling in love.
We were then treated to the soulful sound of Lucy Evans, who brought the sunshine indoors with her gentle voice and heart.
The passionate Nigel Thomas wrapped the afternoon off nicely. His engaging, passionate songs got the crowd clapping.
There was a real warmth in the room, but things got even more heated when we held the raffle. With fantastic prizes from local business such as The CoffeeWorks Project, Home & Pantry, Sacred Gin, Regents Park Open Air Theatre, Park Theatre and Jazz Cafe up for grabs, the tension to win a goodie was palpable! Thank you to all the local businesses who kindly donated a gift to the raffle.
The afternoon was held to raise money for North London Cares' activities. We're chuffed that thanks to ticket sales, the raffle and a tasty bake sale, £650 was raised to ensure that more neighbours can come to more social clubs across Camden and Islington.
Thank you to everyone who came and supported North London Cares; to The Grafton for being wonderful hosts and to all the acts for their wonderful performances!
