Last week we were joined for a discussion by other local organisations working in north London to combat loneliness and isolation. As part of our work under Camden Council's Innovation and Development Fund we brought together various local service providers, thinkers and funders to share experiences and ideas, to troubleshoot, and to come up with resources that will benefit all our work -- and, most importantly, the people we work with -- in the future.

It was the second meeting of the project, and after the first two months ago explored various ideas on best practise from around London and the rest of the country, last week's get-together was focused on delivering better outcomes for local people.

We were joined by representatives from our partners at Age UK Camden, Help on Your Doorstep, Age UK Islington, Ingestre Good Neighbours, Islington Pensioners' Forum, Islington Giving and the London Community Foundation, and hosted by Camden Council.

It was great to be part of such a good discussion which moved our thinking forward.

Most memorable was the presentation given to the group by Dr Jay Watts, a psychologist who specialises in loneliness who we invited to give a clinical perspective on a deepening problem. Her talk was really motivating - and we wanted to share it here so that others could give it a read.
