Next week marks the beginning of our six-week-long Summer Sessions in partnership with Castlehaven Community Association. This is really exciting opportunity for the community to come together to pass on their skills, learn some new ones and to get to know their neighbours.
North London Cares is working with Castlehaven Community Assocation and Mary Ward Centre to deliver a programme of activities throughout the summer for adults in Camden.
And here is what we'll be doing next week:
Monday
Want to get fit? Then Old Boys’ Football at 2pm could be for you! This is a great opportunity for you and your older neighbours to share your passion for football if you’ve been missing it in between seasons. The same rules of passing and scoring goals apply, but with a twist…there’s no running!
Tuesday
Photos capture snap-shots of our lives and ignite our memories of the past, but also show the everyday: buildings, greenery and nature. Interested in learning how to capture the perfect picture? Then come to our Photography Sessions from 2pm and to learn how to use cameras and smartphones to best effect. Already know how and interested in running a session? Then please get in touch!
Wednesday
Lights, camera action! Have you ever what it takes to make your own film? Then our Film-making Club is for you! Throughout the summer, the community will be coming together to make a film from script-writing, to filming, to production. This is a great opportunity to get to know your older neighbours and to create something lasting together. Sign up on the right and see your thoughts come to life! Begins at 2pm.
Thursday
Fancy yourself as the next Jamie Oliver? Or would you like to learn to be one day? Then come on to our Asian and Italian Cooking Club (11am-2pm)! We are looking for volunteers to teach the local community how to make fresh food from scratch, as well as keen sous-chefs. You will go away with some new recipes to add to your collection and there will be an opportunity to sit down with your older neighbours to enjoy the dishes you have created together.
Have something you want to get off your chest? Then our Debating Group (4-6pm) is a great way to do so. People of all ages and opinions will have the opportunity to discuss a range of local and national issues together. And if you’re interested in leading the debate, let us know!
Come along to the first of CCA’s Summer Socials: the International Bring-a-Bowl Party (5-7pm). If you are curious to try new dishes, or would like to contribute your own, then come along! This is a great opportunity for the whole community to share food from around the world while listening to music from around the world.
