Tea for two

This summer North London Cares is celebrating its sixth birthday. Love Your Neighbour pairs got together to celebrate the occasion by enjoying tea parties at home with an afternoon tea hamper.

The Love Your Neighbour programme matches up younger and older neighbours across Camden and Islington to hang out together one-to-one, sharing company and conversation and building long lasting friendships. Pairs meet up on a regular basis, and enjoy catching up over a cuppa at home, sharing stories and experiences with one another.

Doris and Chiara, and Pat and Chelsea toasted North London Cares with a glass of sparkling elderflower before tucking into some tea time treats from their hampers.

“Pat and I really enjoyed it, and will have snacks for days to come as there was so much stuff in there!”

Doris was very happy to see her favourite cake as part of the hamper. As her Love Your Neighbour friend Chiara said: “I wish you could have seen Doris' face light up with excitement as soon as she saw the fruit cake!”

Meanwhile Joan and Ellie turned their afternoon tea into a picnic in the park, making the most of the recent sunshine. 

Maria is really excited to have her tea party with Love Your Neighbour friend MaryAnn. 

“MaryAnn brought the hamper round as a lovely surprise and we’re going to enjoy it together soon. I love having a tea party! It made me feel like a VIP getting the hamper!”

Olive loved receiving some treats and getting to enjoy them with her friend Becca, as well as with Becca’s daughter, Rosa.
