Saturday 19th August, we celebrated our 6th birthday with a carnival-themed extravaganza, including a hula-hooper, birthday cake, and lots of dancing.
Volunteer Francesca went above and beyond for our party and baked a three-tier chocolate birthday cake for all our younger and older neighbours to share. Rachel and Sandy certainly enjoyed blowing out the candles! And it tasted as good as it looks; Maria asked Francesca for the recipe afterwards, saying it was one of the best chocolate cakes she’d eaten.
Thank you Francesca for making our birthday party extra special!
Elsewhere, Hamish invited his older neighbours to visit his workplace – the Foreign Office! Dina, Victor and friends all had a tour which was followed by a question and answer session. Neighbours had a great time, and were impressed with the grandeur of the building. Thank you Hamish!
A big thanks must also must go to volunteer organisers Leanne and Anne, who have been running our Book Club for several months now. They have already encouraged their neighbours to read a diverse range of books, such as Alone in Berlin by Hans Fallada and Beyond Black by Hilary Mantel. The Book Club is continuing to go from strength to strength, with more neighbours joining each month to enjoy shared company, conversation and companionship. And this would not be possible without Leanne and Anne. So thank you – you are superstars!
