Thank you to our September Champions

With the leaves changing colour and summer sun fading, autumn has well and truly arrived in north London. But despite the change of season, our neighbours have been keeping busy. This month they’ve learnt how to hip-hop dance with B-Better and his crew, read about “NW” through the words of Zadie Smith at our monthly book club, and visited the Emirates to watch Arsenal vs. Doncaster – the highlight of the season for neighbour and Arsenal fan Roy.

But none of this would be possible without the support of our supporters who have donated their time, skills and energy to support their community. Thank you to our September Champions!

At the beginning of September, Fitzrovia Youth in Action hosted a large street party. Neighbours of all ages were welcomed to Whitfield Street on a sunny Saturday, and time, laughter and lots of conversation were shared throughout the afternoon. Neighbours Mick, Paul and Emma had a great time catching up. Thank you to Fitzrovia Youth in Action and their youth volunteers for setting up the fantastic event.

Later that week, volunteer Fredi – a wonderful cellist – performed at our Monday Music event at Oldfield Estate. Everyone who attended loved listening to her play. Thank you Fredi for sharing your musicality and talent with your neighbours.

Our monthly Yoga social is a great way to make new friends while getting active. Neighbours John, June and Emma had a great time learning new poses – and September’s session wouldn’t have been possible without volunteer and yoga instructor Maisie leading the class. Thank you Maisie for giving your time to make our social club possible. We felt very relaxed afterwards!

At the end of September, Octopus Investments invited our older neighbours – and those at our sister charity, South London Cares – along to their office. Jen, Isabelle and Phil shared tips of the investment trade and everyone enjoyed tea and lots of cake! Thank you to the team at Octopus, who went above and beyond to make the day special.
