Last night was yet another brilliant film night in Caledonian Road, and when we sat down to have a chat with the film club regulars at the end of the night, it reminded us just why we set up North London Cares.
Our wonderful volunteer Amy took charge and with the help of Mike, Alys and Jenny to make sure that everyone was happy – and full of tea and cake.
Recently Harry and June got married at Islington Town Hall after 25 years together andAlys was there to capture the magic of their special day. Last night film club members were treated to a sneak peek at some of the photos from the wedding. And here’s one of those lovely photos and at the top one of film club regulars Caroline, Katrina and Lil outside of the iconic Islington Town Hall.
At the end of the evening, we sat down together – older and young people from across North London – to discuss Argo and the older people’s memories of that time. Harry and June told us that the film club was one of the highlights of their week and Lil remarked on how lovely it is that young people give up their time to spend the evening with older people.
And that’s why we do this: to give older people in North London the opportunity to get out and meet people and to bring people of all ages in North London together.
