On the evening of Wednesday 6th December, 38 supporters donned that famous festive red suit and ran 5km around the City of London. Thank you to Team Walter James, Euromedica, and Friends, Team Sunshine Company, Team Thomson Reuters, Mica and Ben, Chiara and Meg. You all braved the chill, rocked your Santa suits and have raised over £4,000 for your north London community.
In November, three teams of cyclists from BEIS, Wedlake Bell LLP and the Confederation for British Industries took on our Fuel for Fuel challenge - to cycle as far as they could to fuel their older neighbour’s fuel bills this winter. In total, the three teams cycled 921.7km for their older neighbours and raised over £2,000. Thank you to all our wonderful challengers - your pedal power has made a real difference to your older neighbours this winter. You can read more about how they got on here.
In late November we hosted our North London Cares’ Winter Pub quiz - where over 90 of our supporters came together to get quizzical, enjoy a drink or two and support their older neighbours this winter! Teams answered questions on their favourite Christmas songs, were tested on their knowledge of London and north Londoners that were born and bred in Camden and Islington.
Thank you to everyone who attended - and to the wonderful Pop Up Cinemas, Crepe Affaire, Winterville, Ciate, Screen on the Green, Nandos, Dishoom and New Diorama Theatre who donated prizes for our raffle. In total we raised an awesome £845.40 - helping to make our winter activities possible!
Kate from An Artful Life kindly braved the wind, rain and snow this December to host a stall in Camden Market - 15% of all proceeds went towards helping older neighbours in Camden and Islington keep warm, well and connected this winter. Thank you Kate - you're a champion! And thank you to Camden Market, who kindly gave us the opportunity to use one of their stalls this winter.
Finally, we want to say a huge thank you to friends and neighbours Sylvia and Sarah. We met Sylvia last winter, when we knocked on her door as part of our Winter Wellbeing project. She said she’d like to make a new friend - so we introduced to Sarah. And they’ve been friends ever since!
Sylvia and Sarah kindly chatted to us about their friendship, so everyone could see how wonderful it is to make a new friend and how important our Winter Wellbeing project is.
Thank you for spending time with us Sylvia and Sarah, and showing your north London community see how wonderful your friendship is. We wish you both a very merry Christmas!
