Here's the second part of the North London Stories Christmas double-header!
Yesterday you heard from Sean, Tony, Emma, Ray and Marlene as they shared tales of trips to west London Winter Wonderlands and cracking Christmas dinners!
Today, hear from Fran, Michael, Peter, Niamh, Catherine and Jonathan. They attended the very same social club in Camden Town earlier this December at Castlehaven Community Association and there were lots of laughs as we hit the recording studio:
A couple of quotes stand out:
"My favourite bit of the meal? Brandy butter and Christmas pudding. About a 75% to 25% ratio! Ha ha!" – Jonathan.
"The trick is not to put too much brandy over the Christmas pudding. I did that once, it already had a lot in it. The thing ignited and what was left...well, it wasn't edible at all!" – Peter.
So be careful if you're anywhere near NW1 on Christmas Day. The desserts in Peter's house come the 25th are quite the spectacle!
The recording of these stories has become a very special thing for neighbours in north London. Fran and Mike, who you hear from in this podcast, have rarely missed a session and have now made tons of friends and memories together through other social clubs and activities in their local area.
The couple of weeks around Christmas aren't always easy for everyone. We should celebrate the good times whilst reaching out to others around us. Everyone needs a giggle and some company from time to time. So it's wonderful to see these neighbours reaching out to each other and building relationships in their community. Onwards to the new year and more North London Stories!
