After I made the decision to move to London this year, I was determined to find a job that would allow me to learn more about the city, the kind of stuff stuff that isn’t in Time Out, and develop a sense of community. If you had asked me six months ago what I would like to do, coordinating a friendship programme at a charity tackling loneliness would have been on top of the list.
The summer is here and for many that means BBQs, picnics in the park and sport on the big screen. But imagine if you couldn't get out, or didn't know many people – London could feel doubly isolating. This summer, we're raising money to run dozens of social clubs to help older and younger share a season in the sun.

Before joining North London Cares I had been self-employed for six months. I’d always seen self-employment as the ideal job, technically I should have been living the dream! When my friends or family asked about work I’d say it was great and how much I was loving it, but really something didn’t feel right and I wasn’t enjoying my new found freedom as much as I thought.
This summer North London Cares is celebrating its sixth birthday. Love Your Neighbour pairs got together to celebrate the occasion by enjoying tea parties at home with an afternoon tea hamper.
It had never occurred to me to do something physically challenging. But when I witnessed the life-changing work of North London Cares and South London Cares, I felt inspired to take on a challenge to help support such a great cause.
