Since the turn of the year, North London Cares has been hosting a variety of exciting social activities for our older neighbours to hang out with young volunteers, every Saturday, in partnership with Islington creatives Cubitt and All Change (and thanks to Islington Giving).
Within a few weeks, NLC's brand new sister network, South London Cares, will begin the work of mobilising young professional volunteers to support their older neighbours below the river in Southwark and Lambeth.
Alexandra Baxter has volunteered with North London Cares for a year, sharing recipes with older neighbours at cooking workshops, building new relationships at social clubs, helping older neighbours with gardening -- and leading other volunteers to be involved through our NLC Organisers programme. Over the past week our volunteers and older neighbours have been getting creative with food and have made some beautiful Easter eggs and colourful tasty pizzas.
This weekend Alex, one of our North London Cares Organisers, along with four other volunteers, helped two of their older neighbours to transform their gardens ready for spring.
